The Election Commission (EC) has settled the feud that started between Chirag Paswan and his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras over the claims on Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and its symbol after the death of Ram Vilas Paswan, the party founder.
EC has allotted the name 'Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and election symbol 'Helicopter' to Chirag Paswan. While Pashupati Kumar Paras has been allotted the name 'Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party' and 'Sewing Machine' is their election symbol.
Earlier on Saturday, EC barred the Chirag Paswan and the Pashupati Kumar Paras factions from using the original name of Lok Janshakti Party or its symbol 'Bungalow'.
The two warring factions were making claims to the LJP party symbol as bypolls for the Kusheshwar Asthan and the Tarapur assembly seats in Bihar are to be held on October 30.
The LJP split came after five of the party’s six MPs ousted Chirag Paswan as their legislative leader and replaced him with his uncle Paras.
Besides Pashupati Paras, Choudhary Mehboob Ali Kaiser, Veena Devi, Prince Raj and Chandan Singh were the MPs who voted in favour of Pars to oust Chirag.
