Corona Cases Update: Maintaining the downward trend of Coronavirus cases for the past few days, India has reports 18,346 new cases in the last 24 hours. The cases reported on Tuesday are the lowest in 209 days, according to the Union Health Ministry.
The country's active cases account for less than 1% of total cases and is currently at 0.75% which is the lowest since March 2020.
India's Active caseload stands at 2,52,902, the lowest in 201 days.
The country's recovery rate is witnessing an upward trend and is currently at 97.93% which is the highest since March 2020
29,639 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,31,50,886.
Kerala
Kerala, which is showing a decline in daily fresh cases after crossing the 30,000 mark post-Onam festival in August, on Monday logged less than 10,000 cases -- 8,850 to be exact -- and 149 deaths, taking the caseload to 47,29,083 and the toll to 25,526, reported PTI.
One of the likely reasons for the fresh cases dipping below the 10,000 mark may be the fewer tests conducted on Sunday as compared to the other days of the week.
The number of people who recovered from the infection since Sunday was 17,007, which brought the total recoveries to 45,74,206 and the number of active cases to 1,28,736, an official press release said.
As many as 74,871 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, it said.
Among the 14 districts, Thiruvananthapuram recorded the highest number of cases with 1,134, followed by Thrissur (1,077) and Ernakulam (920).
Maharashtra
Maharashtra on Monday reported 2,026 fresh COVID-19 cases, the lowest after February 2, and 26 fatalities, taking the tally of infections to 65,62,514 and the death toll to 1,39,233, a health department official said.
On February 2, Maharashtra had reported 1,927 COVID-19 cases.
As compared to Sunday, when Maharashtra reported 2,692 COVID-19 cases and 41 fatalities, the state witnessed a marginal dip in the count of infections as well as deaths due to coronavirus infection.
With 5,389 patients discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, the number of recoveries in Maharashtra rose to 63,86,059, leaving the state with 33,637 active cases, the official said.
Maharashtra's case recovery rate now stands at 97.31 per cent while the fatality rate is 2.12 per cent.
With 1,15,450 new tests, the cumulative number of samples tested in Maharashtra went up to 5,93,37,713, the official said.
