Earthquake in Delhi: Tremors hit national capital once again

According to the National Centre for Seismology, the tremors hit at around 3:47 am at a depth of 17 km.

New Delhi, Jul 3 (PTI) A low intensity earthquake measuring 2.8 on the Richter scale hit the national capital in the wee hours today. According to the National Centre for Seismology, the tremors hit at around 3:47 am at a depth of 17 km. However, there are no immediate reports of any damage to property. Earlier on Sunday afternoon, an earthquake measuring 4 on the Richter scale hit parts of North India. Mild earthquake tremors were felt in Delhi-NCR, Haryana and other areas. Sonipat, Haryana is reported to be the epicentre of the quake. People panicked because of the tremors but no casualty has been reported as of now. According to the Centre for Seismology, an earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Ritcher scale and epicentre at a point 28.9 degrees north latitude and 77 degrees East, in Haryana's Sonepat district.  The quake, classified as moderate, was at a depth of 5 km. The earthquake in Delhi-NCR comes days after neighbouring Himachal Pradesh was jolted by tremors on June 26. A low-intensity earthquake measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale had hit Himachal Pradesh last Tuesday.
