Drugs-On-Cruise Case: Prabhakar Sail Appears Before NCB Delhi Vigilance Team Probing Pay-Off Allegations

Last month, a vigilance team led by Gyaneshwar Singh had come to Mumbai to probe the allegations of extortion but had to return without recording Prabhakar Sail’s statement.

New Delhi: Prabhakar Sail, an independent witness in the drugs-on-cruise case, on Monday appeared before the Narcotics Control Bureau’s (NCB) Delhi vigilance team, probing the pay-off allegations put up by him.

This comes after NCB issued summons to Prabhakar Sail on Sunday, directing him to appear before the vigilance team to record his statement.

Prabhakar Sail along with his lawyer reached the Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) mess in Bandra under police protection at 2 pm, news agency PTI reported.

This is his first appearance before the central agency’s vigilance team that is probing the allegations of pay-off in the Cordelia cruise drugs case in which actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan is one of the accused.

As per PTI, NCB’s vigilance team, headed by Deputy Director General (northern region) Gyaneshwar Singh, reached Mumbai from Delhi on Monday morning.

The probe comes after Prabhakar Sail, who claims to be the bodyguard of NCB witness Kiran Gosavi, last month claimed in an affidavit that he had heard Kiran discuss a Rs 25 crore pay-off deal after Aryan Khan was arrested by the NCB.

Prabhakar had alleged that Kiran Gosavi said Rs 8 crore of the deal money was to be given to NCB Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede.

The extortion allegations led to the NCB ordering a vigilance inquiry against NCB officials and others.

Sameer Wankhede had denied the allegations against him.

Last month, a vigilance team led by Gyaneshwar Singh had come to Mumbai to probe the allegations of extortion but had to return without recording Prabhakar Sail’s statement.

Statements of eight persons, including Sameer Wankhede, were recorded and some important documents and recordings related to the cruise drugs case were collected, an official earlier informed, as reported by PTI.

Gyaneshwar Singh is also the chief vigilance officer (CVO) of the federal anti-narcotics agency.

Meanwhile, Kiran Gosavi, NCB’s independent witness in the Mumbai drugs cruise raid, will remain in police custody of Pune City Police for one more day, news agency ANI reported.

Kiran Gosavi is in police custody over a 2018 cheating case wherein he is accused of duping one Chinmay Deshmukh by collecting Rs 18 lakh on a promise to get him a job in Malaysia.
