Farmers Protest In Mumbai: Delhi-like scenes emerged in Mumbai as the farmers’ protest which was centered in the national capital spread out to Maharashtra and thousands of farmers from various districts of the state gathered in Mumbai’s Azad Maidan. They were stopped by police using force as they tried to march towards the Raj Bhavan to submit their memorandum. The ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi allies Nationalist Congress Party-Congress joined the Samyukt Shetkari Kamgar Morcha (SSKM) to oppose the three new farm laws.
NCP leader Sharad Pawar and Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat also joined the massive sit-in staged by the farmers. Attacking the Centre from a gathering of thousands of protesting farmers, NCP leader Sharad Pawar said: “Braving cold weather, farmers from Punjab, Haryana & Uttar Pradesh are agitating for the last 60 days. Has the PM enquired about them? Do these farmers belong to Pakistan.”
Farmers from various districts of the state gathered at Azad Maidan in Mumbai, in protest against Farm Laws. A protester said, "We'll give memorandum to Governor today. Our families have also come with us because if we lose farming, the entire family will come on road"
As the farmers and leaders took out a procession to Raj Bhavan in order to submit a memorandum to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari with their list of demands pertaining to farmers and workers, they were stopped by police.
The agitation is part of the all-India 3-day action launched since Sunday in all states to express solidarity with the farmers in Delhi demanding a complete repeal of the 3 farm laws, terming them as 'anti-farmer'.
