Delhi Metro: After the decline in the cases of Corona and the opening of offices as well as schools, the number of passengers travelling in the Delhi metro has increased.
In view of this, about 70 percent of the gates of metro stations have been reopened. Even after this, people are facing problems, because 30 percent of the gates have been kept closed due to not being allowed to travel standing in the metro.
However, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said that all the gates will be opened after full capacity passengers are allowed to travel in the metro.
It is worth noting that after the third wave of Corona started, the number of passengers in the metro was reduced on December 28 last year. During this time, it was decided to run the metro with only 50 percent capacity.
In such a situation, the number of people travelling by metro had also declined. Delhi Metro has 712 gates at 254 stations, out of which only 444 of them were being opened. Because of this, only 4 to 5 lakh passengers were travelling every day. At the moment, 1 or 2 gates are being opened at every station.
500 Gates Are Open
A few days ago, the metro was allowed to run with 100 percent capacity. Yet at most of the stations, one or two gates were being opened. This led to long queues of passengers outside the stations.
It is being said that 12 to 15 lakh passengers are travelling every day. In such a situation, there is a huge crowd at the metro stations in the morning and evening. At present, about 500 gates have been opened at metro stations which makes an average of two gates for each station.
