DMK Deputy General Secretary and Nilgiris MP A Raja has launched a scathing attack on Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah, accusing him of promoting “divisive politics” and spreading misinformation during his address in Madurai on Sunday. Raja's sharp remarks come in response to Shah’s criticism of the ruling DMK government and his assertion that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was poised to seize power in Tamil Nadu in the 2026 Assembly polls.

Addressing reporters in Chennai on Monday, Raja described Shah’s remarks as “an utter lie" accusing the Home Minister of violating the spirit of his constitutional role by stoking communal sentiments in an opposition-ruled state, as per a report on The Hindustan Times. Raja also accused the BJP-led Centre of manipulating public discourse around delimitation to create confusion among voters.

DMK Counters Corruption Charges

During his speech, Shah had levelled multiple allegations against the MK Stalin-led DMK government, including rising corruption and crimes against women.

Raja rebutted the charges, listing what he claimed were DMK’s achievements over the past four years and termed Shah’s address as an orchestrated attempt to defame the state government.

"How did (AAP chief) Arvind Kejriwal come to power (in Delhi)-- he only opposed corruption, did he have an ideology, were there leaders behind him....we are not afraid of Amit Shah and Modi-- after all, they are ordinary persons. The political ideology behind them is invading everywhere and winning, but why is it unable to win here. Because we have an alternative to that ideology," he said referring to the Dravidian philosophy, as reported by PTI.

"As long as Dravidian ideology is there, they cannot gain foothold in Tamil Nadu. We are not Delhi, Maharashtra and Haryana. We are Tamil Nadu, we are Dravidam, (BJP) cannot come here," he said.
