Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reached Himachal Pradesh's Lepcha saying that he would celebrate Diwali with the security forces. Earlier in the day, he extended his greetings on the occasion to the nation wishing prosperity and health to everyone.

"Reached Lepcha in Himachal Pradesh to celebrate Diwali with our brave security forces," Modi tweeted on Sunday on X.

"Wishing everyone a Happy Diwali! May this special festival bring joy, prosperity and wonderful health to everyone’s lives," Modi said in a post on X earlier in the day.

Modi has been celebrating the festival of Diwali with the security forces every years since he assumed the post of Prime Minister. In 2014, he went to Jammu and Kashmir's Siachen to celebrate the festival and the next year he went to Amritsar.

In 2016, Modi joined the security forces in Himachal's Lahaul-Spiti to celebrate Diwali and in 2017, he went to Jammu and Kashmir's Gurez Valley. In 2018, he visited Uttarakhand's Chamoli to celebrate the festival of lights and the next year, he met with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri on the occasion.

Security forces in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer celebrated the festival with PM Modi in 2020 and in 2021 it was the personnel in Jammu and Kashmir's Nowshera sector.

Last year, PM Modi visited Kargil in Jammu and Kashmir where he celebrated the festival with the soldiers.
