Dharamshala: PM Modi To Preside Over Chief Secretaries' Conference, Hold Roadshow Today

The three-day conference that started on June 15 is focused on agriculture, job creation, education, ease of living and self-reliance.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over a national conference of chief secretaries of states and union territories at HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on June 16 and 17. This is being seen as an important step towards strengthening the partnership between the Centre and state governments. Over 200 people representing the central government, states and UTs will participate in the conclave. People from the thematic sector will also take part in the event.

The three-day conference that started on June 15, will focus on agriculture, job creation, education, ease of living and self-reliance.

Before presiding over the conclave, PM Modi will hold a roadshow, for which door-to-door invitations have been given to people, said a BJP spokesperson, as reported by news agency PTI.

Many BJP leaders including Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and Union Minister Anurag Thakur will take part in the roadshow, which will start around 11 am from Dharamshala Kachehri Bazar and end at State Martyrs Memorial.

Modi will arrive in Dharamshala by helicopter and will be welcomed by governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur at the Police Grounds where a temporary helipad has been costructed.

"There is a lot of enthusiasm among the people regarding the roadshow as the BJP has given a strong, transparent and corruption-free governance. Eight years of Modi rule at the Centre and about four-and-a-half years of Jairaj Thakur’s regime in the state have been full of achievements," said Rakesh Sharma, the media in-charge of Himachal Pradesh BJP to PTI.

The Prime Minister is likely to stay at Dharamshala Circuit House and will return to Delhi on Friday. Assembly polls are scheduled in Himachal Pradesh in December.
