New Delhi: Hours after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that no rioter, irrespective of their party, involved in the violence should be spared, an FIR was logged against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councillor Tahir Hussain on Thursday evening. According to reports, Tahir has been slapped with Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code hours after a complaint was filed against him at Dayalpur Police Station. Meanwhile, AAP has suspended Tahir after the FIR was slapped against him.

"Councillor Tahir Hussain, who has been accused of violence in Delhi, has been suspended from the party till completion of investigation against him," AAP tweeted from its official Twitter handle in Hindi.

The AAP councillor has been accused in the murder case of Intelligence Bureau (IB) staffer Ankit Sharma, whose body was recovered from a drain in northeast Delhi's Chand Bagh area earlier in the day. Tahir has also been booked under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) in connection with arson and inciting violence in the national capital.

Tahir, however, denied any involvement in the riots or the killing of an Intelligence Bureau staffer whose family accused him of being behind the murder, saying these are 'baseless accusations'. He called for an impartial probe into the incident and said action should be taken against the guilty.

"It is wrong to target me. I and my family have nothing to do with it," Tahir said.

According to a report by news agency IANS, AAP municipal councillor from Nehru Vihar, Tahir Hussain, in Chand Bagh still had a number of petrol bomb bottles, acid pouches, and stones scattered on the rooftop and inside.

Earlier today, Delhi Police sealed a factory belonging to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councilor. Tahir stepped into a massive controversy after videos emerged where tens of people can be seen on his house's rooftop and hurling stones and petrol bombs during the riots in Northeast Delhi.

After the issue caught media attention and Opposition leaders started slammed Delhi government over Tahir's alleged involvement in inciting riots, he issued a video statement and claimed that he too was a victim of the violence that broke out in several parts of northeast Delhi.

Thirty-four people have been killed and over 200 injured in the communal clashes that broke out in northeast Delhi three days ago after violence between anti and pro Citizenship (Amendment) Act groups spiralled out of control.

Frenzied mobs torched houses, shops, vehicles, a petrol pump and pelted stones at locals and police personnel. Jaffrabad, Maujpur, Babarpur, Yamuna Vihar, Bhajanpura, Chand Bagh and Shiv Vihar are among the areas mainly affected by the riots.
