New Delhi: In an outrageous incident, school authorities at Rabea Girls Public school in the national capital holed-up 40 young girls in school basement for not paying fee for 6 hours. The matter came to light after parents of 16 girls filed a complaint against the private school authorities.

The girls belong to Lower Kindergarten and Nursery standard of the school, which  is located in Delhi's Chandni Chowk area.

A parent who had come to get his daughter home, recorded the video of the incident, which has now gone viral on social media and the school authorities are drawing flak over the same.

The incident has angered the parents of the little girls, who allege that school authorities had dimmed the lights, which also frightened the girls. The parents are also claiming that the teachers had also switched off the fans and made the girls sit in heat.

Mother of another child said, "My daughter was in tears and scared when I came to pick her up. Also, her face had turned red".

The school authorities on the other hand didn’t relent and refused holding-up the students. In her defence, the school principal Naheed Usmani said, "we did not punish the students. There were teachers along with them in the room."

Speaking on the matter, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday said “I am shocked with the incident. I will ensure that a strict action is taken against the school authorities.”

Delhi Minister Imran Hussain Imran Hussain visited the school and pulled up the principal for her callous attitude.

An FIR has been lodged against the school authorities over the incident.
