NEW DELHI: Allahabad High Court on Wednesday declined petition to transfer of the gangster Munna Bajrangi murder case to CBI.

The Justice SD Singh's single bench declined the petition on technical grounds. The court said that only the divisional bench has the authority to give the case to CBI.

The gangster Prem Prakash Singh aka Munna Bajrangi was shot dead inside a district jail in Uttar Pradesh on Monday.

Bajrangi's wife Seema Singh, who had called a press conference 10 days ago on June 29 to allege that her husband's life was in danger and had demanded a CBI probe into the matter after the gangster's death.

He was shot dead, hours before he was to be produced in a local court in a case of extorting money from a former BSP legislator.

Seema had earlier alleged that a conspiracy was being hatched by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh police to eliminate her husband.

Swati Agarwal, who had filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court regarding her client's security has now requested the court to take suo motu cognizance of Bajrangi's murder.
