New Delhi: The bail plea of jailed student leader Umar Khalid in last year's Delhi violence case was heard in the Kakadaduma court in Delhi today. During the court hearing, Umar Khalid's lawyer Trideep Pais questioned the chargesheet filed by Delhi Police and said that it appears that the investigating officer reading a television script for a film story and even alleged that Umar was made accused in the case without any evidence.
Umar Khalid's lawyer stated that the news channel clipping, which Delhi Police have used as evidence, does not even have the full video. The allegations mentioned by Delhi Police against Umar in its chargesheet do not seem to be making a case under UAPA in any situation.
Protests against CAA took place across the country - Umar Khalid's lawyer
Umar Khalid's lawyer argued that no single community had demonstrated against the Citizenship Amendment Act, the CAA, but that demonstrations had taken place across the country. The chargesheet filed by Delhi Police also does not have direct contain any witnesses and evidence against Umar.
The lawyer argued that the charge sheet was made on the basis of knowing what was going on in Umar Khalid's head. Delhi Police has no evidence to prove their claims.

Delhi Police has arrested student leader Umar Khalid for making provocative speeches in a Delhi riots case. A chargesheet has been filed against Omar Khalid under sections of the UAPA. Umar Khalid's bail plea will continue to be heard on Monday, September 6.
