Delhi Police on Sunday arrested an Assistant Sub Inspector who was accused of running an extortion business in association with a gangster. The matter came into light after a case in which extortion worth Rs 2 crore was sought from a businessman was registered in the Hauz Khas Police station.

Upon the police investigation following the leads and developments of the case, arrests were made of the people who were involved in the case, the whole story came out openly and revealed that the ASI of Delhi Police is the mastermind of the act. The ASI allegedly passed on the information about the rich businessman to the gangster in order to begin the process of extortion.
Delhi Police ASI Found Working With Gangster Arrested: What the matter is all about?
According to the Delhi police, a case was registered at Hauz Khas police station on June 28. In the FIR, the complainant stated that a call was received from his father's phone from an undisclosed number and that the caller called himself “Kala” and claimed himself to be a gangster. The gangster asked for extortion of Rs 2 crore and stated that if the demands were not fulfilled, the businessman’s family will be put to death.
After the police started to investigate the matter, it was found that the SIM number from which the call was made, the phone was snatched on the evening of 27 June 2020 by a person named Ramamurthy, a resident of Rohtak Haryana, but the call was not made from that phone. The investigation further reviled that the call was made from a different phone by putting the SIM in another phone from Rajasthan.
Following the leads and development in the investigation, the police arrested 3 people, who used to work for a gangster named Pramod aka Kale.
When the police further extended the investigation, Pramod alias Kale was also arrested and a number was obtained from his call details, on which Kale used to talk a lot. Upon following the details of the number taken from Kale’s phone, the investigation team of the Delhi Police was shocked as the number was found to belong to ASI Rajbir. After which Rajbir was arrested and interrogated.
ASI turned out to be informer of a gangster!
In the terms of Police, “Informant” is used for those who provide information to the police, they informally work for the police. But in the case of Rajbir, things go the other way around, ASI Rajveer was found working with gangster despite being a policeman. In this case, the ASI reached out to the gangster with information to extort rich businessmen.
ASI Rajbir was awarded Gallantry Medal, but upon his involvement in the case has surfaced, the Delhi Police department has initiated the procedure to suspend him. The process also involves withdrawing the medals awarded during the time of service.
