The Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested seven individuals, including a doctor, in connection with an alleged international organ transplant racket. The Crime Branch said the racket was masterminded by a Bangladesh national. Police had been working on the case for two months, based on a tip-off.

Speaking to ANI, Crime Branch Deputy Commissioner of Police Amit Goel said, "Seven people have been arrested in connection with an international organ transplant racket. The mastermind of this racket was a Bangladeshi."

He said they had found a donor and recipient from Bangladesh, adding that the arrested people included one Russell, who allegedly arranged patients and donors.

The doctor who has been arrested currently works as a kidney transplant surgeon in a well-known hospital in southeast Delhi. She was allegedly involved in the surgeries of some people from Bangladesh between 2021 and 2023, police officials told PTI. She allegedly conducted the surgeries in a Noida-based private hospital where she was a visiting consultant.

For each transplant, the accused would allegedly charge between Rs 25 lakh and Rs 30 lakh. The racket had reportedly been in operation since 2019. Further investigation is underway.
