Delhi Mahila Congress Chief Barkha Shukla sacked from party after attack on Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: Delhi Mahila Congress Chief Barkha Shukla was on Friday expelled from the party for her ‘attack’ on party Vice President Rahul Gandhi. Shukla has been expelled from the party for 6 years. Her expulsion came hours after she made an announcement of leaving the party. "This is to inform that Barkha Shukla Singh has been removed from the post of president of Delhi Pradesh Mahila Congress with immediate effect," All India Mahila Congress President Shobha Oza said in a statement. In a statement issued to a news agency, Shukla said "I will not quit the Congress and continue to wage my war within the party," she said, adding that "I will move the court against my illegal removal". Shukla attacks Rahul Gandhi: Launching an attack on Rahul Gandhi Shukla had said, "Why is he (Rahul) scared of meeting his own party members? Several senior leaders have quit the party because of this very reason - his reluctance over addressing issues that exist within the organisation". Hours after Shukla hit out at Gandhi, she took to her Twitter account and said, “Will always remain a @INCIndia worker. Saddening to see party in such a state. Party does not belong to one person it belongs to its workers”. Also she wrote another tweet just after her expulsion which said, “todays’s motto Rahul Gandhi free Congress”. After Shukla’s statement, it was being speculated that she might join BJP. Lovely leaves Congress, Joins BJP: Arvind Singh Lovely, who  has been the Minister for Education, Tourism, Languages, Urban Development, Revenue, Transport Gurudwara quit Congress and joined the saffron party along with Delhi Youth Congress chief Amit Malik. Even Lovely had expressed his unhappiness with Congress leadership including party VP Rahul Gandhi. While speaking to the reporters, Lovely said “"The child is dead. Congress is finished".
