Telangana CM KCR's Daughter Kavitha Gets Fresh Summons From CBI In Delhi Liquor Policy Case

The CBI had issued a notice on December 2 to the TRS leader for questioning in the Delhi liquor policy case on December 6.

The CBI has issued a fresh notice to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's daughter K Kavitha in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case, asking her to appear for questioning on December 11 at Hyderabad, PTI reported.

The CBI had earlier directed her to appear before it on December 6. However, the TRS MLC had written to the investigative agency expressing her inability to meet them on Tuesday because of her preoccupied schedule.

Kavitha had asked the CBI to postpone her questioning from Tuesday to any date between December 11-15.

In her response to the first CBI notice issued on December 2, Kavitha had said she had gone through the contents of the FIR copy as well as the complaint in connection with the case and her name did not figure anywhere in any manner whatsoever, PTI reported.

In its letter to the TRS MLC, the CBI said that it would visit her residence on December 11 and record her statement in connection with the case.

After receiving the CBI notice earlier in December, Kavitha had dared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to put her and other leaders behind the bars. "I request Modi that this attitude has to change. It is not possible to win elections by using the ED and CBI. It is very difficult with people of Telangana who are cleverer," Kavitha had said.

"If you say that you will keep us in jail, do it. What will happen? There is nothing to be scared of. Will you hang us? At the most you will keep us in jail. That's all," she had further said.

Kavitha's name cropped up in the case after the ED, in the remand report of one of the accused -- Amit Arora -- who was arrested on Wednesday, claimed the MLC and others were part of a group called the "South Group".

The ED, which filed its first chargesheet last week, mentioned that Vijay Nair, one of the accused, received Rs 100 crore kickbacks on behalf of AAP leaders from the "South Group", being controlled by several persons, including KCR's daughter.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is also one of the accused in the case. The case came to light after Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena sought a CBI probe into alleged corruption.

The CBI has alleged that many ineligible vendors were awarded licences by the Delhi government in exchange for bribes. The policy, introduced in November last year, was withdrawn eight months later.

However, Sisodia's name did not figure in the first chargesheet filed by the CBI in connection with the excise policy case. In its chargesheet, the CBI named arrested businessmen Vijay Nair and Abhishek Boinpally and five other accused.
