New Delhi: A fire broke out at a gas stove repair shop in northeast Delhi’s Jafarabad area on Friday. 


The incident led to five fire service personnel and two civilians being injured, news agency PTI reported officials as saying.


The injured were shifted to GTB Hospital, the officials informed.

Officials had informed that a gas cylinder explosion triggered the fire.


They informed that the injured fire personnel have been identified as Suhil, Feroz, Suresh, Rakesh, and Mahavir. Among the injured, Suhil’s condition is reported to be serious.


As per the PTI report, officials said that the call about the incident was received by the fire brigade at around 8:15 pm.


The police informed that the fire that broke out at a gas stove repair shop also affected an adjoining grocery and a mobile store.






Eight fire tenders brought the blaze under control.


Meanwhile, people residing in the affected building were evacuated to ensure the residents’ safety. A senior police officer said that considering the area is densely populated, all necessary precautions were taken accordingly.


Besides this, an inquiry into the fire incident is being conducted and legal action will be initiated accordingly, the police added, as reported by PTI.


Last month, a 31-year-old firefighter had died after sustaining burn injuries in the line of duty. The deceased firefighter, Praveen Kumar, was a resident of Pakasma village in Rohtak district of Haryana. He was posted at DSIIDC Narela (Bhorgarh) fire station. 


Praveen was injured during a fire-fighting operation at a factory in outer Delhi’s Narela.
