Delhi: Fire Breaks Out At Showroom In Lajpat Nagar Market, 30 Tenders Rushed To Douse Blaze

The fire accident took place at a textile showroom in Delhi's Lajpat Nagar. As per early inputs, the fire began at the ground floor and gradually the flames engulfed adjoining shops as well.

New Delhi: Fire broke out at a showroom in South Delhi's Lajpat Nagar Central Market area on Saturday morning,

Delhi Fire Service officials informed that a call about the blaze was received around 10.20 am, following which 16 fire tenders were rushed to the spot.

The fire accident took place at a clothing showroom in Delhi's Lajpat Nagar. As per early inputs, the fire began at the ground floor and gradually the flames engulfed adjoining shops as well.

According to the latest inputs, the fire has been brought under control in 4 hours. Total 3 showrooms have been engulfed in the blaze. 

While 16 fire tenders were sent earlier, the Delhi Fire Department had to send a total of 30 fire engines to the spot to bring the situation under control.

"30 fire tenders were rushed to the spot after we received a fire call. Over 100 firefighters worked to douse the flames. No casualty has been reported. The situation is under control now. Cooling operation is underway," Delhi Fire Services Director Atul Garg told ANI.

Reportedly, the fire accident is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit at the clothing showroom.

Assuring the Delhi citizens, CM Arvind Kejriwal wrote: "I am constantly monitoring the situation and am in constant touch with the fire department officials".

No person was hurt as the markets were shut and not fatalities have been reported.
