New Delhi: Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia held a press conference on Friday morning in which he talked about the ongoing demolition drive by the Delhi municipal corporation.

He said that he wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the ongoing anti-encroachment drive and said that BJP is roaming around Delhi with a bulldozer. He also alleged that BJP has planned to destroy 63 lakh houses in Delhi. Of those, 60 lakh houses are in jhuggis, he claimed.

He added that it will be the biggest demolition drive in the whole country as it would leave 70 percent of Delhi’s population homeless.

He also claimed that BJP took money from people to settle them in illegal colonies first and now demolishing their houses.

Sisodia said that AAP condemns the actions of the BJP and that the party will stop this even if it means going to jail. He added that this demolition drive has to stop in any way.

Sisodia’s press conference comes a day after clashes broke out between locals and Delhi police in South Delhi’s Madanpur Khadar on Thursday. Police also arrested AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan on Thursday for interfering in the official work. 12 residents including a woman and her minor daughter were also detained by the police on Thursday.

Earlier, during the demolition drive by South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) in Shaheen Bagh, the residents protested against the bulldozers leading to a sit-in by the locals halting the drive.

Delhi municipal corporation’s demolition drive began last month.
