Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia Claims Centre Did Not Seek Report On Deaths Caused By Oxygen Shortage

Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said the Centre did not ask for any information on the oxygen issue. However, the Delhi government will gather information on it.

New Delhi: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said the Centre did not seek any information from the Delhi government on whether patients died due to lack of oxygen during the second wave of the corona. He said there was an oxygen crisis during the second wave of corona in Delhi. But, without investigation, it is not possible to ascertain if any deaths were caused due to lack of oxygen. 

Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said that the Centre did not ask for any information on the oxygen issue. However, the Delhi government will gather information on the matter. Last month, the Central Government asked states to provide the data on deaths due to lack of oxygen during the second wave of the corona pandemic this year.

45 PSA Oxygen Plants Launched In Delhi

As part of preparations for the possible third wave of Covid-19 in the national capital, 45 PSA oxygen plants of 55.46 MT were started in government hospitals. According to officials, about 160 PSA oxygen production plants of 148.11 MT capacity are being set up in various government and private hospitals in the metropolis.

While 66 plants are being set up in government hospitals in Delhi, ten plants are being set up in central government hospitals and 84 in private hospitals. During a meeting with DDMA officials on Friday, health officials said that 45 PSA plants of 55.46 MT capacity have been commissioned. 18 such plants of 21.06 MT capacity will be commissioned by August 15.

He informed that ten PSA plants of 9.29 MT capacity will be operational by August 31 and three plants of 5.67 MT capacity will be ready by October 15.

Four Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) storage tanks of 221 MT capacity have been installed in the metropolis. Officials said another tank of such a 50 MT capacity has reached GTB Hospital and will be installed by August 10.
