Arvind Kejriwal's Wait Grows Longer As Delhi Court Reserves Verdict On Bail

The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi on Thursday reserved the order on jailed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's bail plea in Delhi Liquor policy case

The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi on Thursday reserved the order on jailed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's bail plea as well as his application seeking permission for his wife to be present during his medical examination by the Medical Board in the money laundering case connected to the Delhi Excise Policy scam.

The court today concluded hearing arguments from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Aam Aadmi Party chief's councel. Yesterday, the court had said that it will not reserve verdict  in the case for long as it is a high profile case and asked counseld to conclude arguments in time.

Arvind Kejriwal Requests Court To Treat Him As A 'Normal Person'

The Delhi CM's counsel Senior Advocate Vikram Chaudhary reiterated that ED had no prrof to back its allegations and requested the court to treat Kejriwal as a normal person and extend him the same liberties as any other person.

"Don't treat me as someone special. I don't want to be treated as a special person. But please mete out the treatment to me as you would to an ordinary person," Chaudhary said while concluding his arguments in court.

He further asked if ED was an independent agency or playing in the hands of some political masters. the counsel argued that the central probe agency's case against Kejriwal is based on hypothesis.

He argued that there is nothing to show that Rs 45 crore were ever received by AAP and the ED is still arresting in the case and are yet to establish Rs 100 crore bribe was received.

ED Claims It Has Concreate Evidence Against Arvind Kejriwal

The probe agency represented by ASG SV Raju stuck by its claim that Rs 100 crore money laundering has taken place via the now scrapped Delhi Liquor policy. It

ASG stated in court that ED is not doing the investigation in the air. And the probe agency has concrete evidence including photos of currency notes which were part of the money given as kickbacks.

ASG said that being the chief of the AAP which benefitted from proceeds of crime and used them in Goa elections, Kejriwal was behind drafting such a policy which allowed kickbacks.

Arvind Kejriwal has denied ED's allegations and has accused the probe agency of running an "extortion racket."
