At a Dussehra celebration at Ramlila Maidan, Patparganj, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia took a veiled swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, likening the defeat of evil in mythological times to present-day politics. "I want to tell all the people that today in the whole country, people are celebrating the victory of good over evil, whether he is Ravan of Treta Yuga or dictator of Kalyug or Ravan of Kalyug, he will always be defeated by truth and goodness," Sisodia told news agency ANI.
He further added, "Whenever Ravan will be defeated, be it of Treta Yug or Kalyug, people will celebrate in the same way, and will be happy."
This comment can be seen as a veiled jibe at Prime Minister Modi as the AAP often accuses the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of targeting its leaders through central agency investigations and poaching its MLAs in an attempt to finish the party off.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi was felicitated during Vijaya Dashami celebrations at IP Extension, where a 'Ravan Dahan' took place. Addressing the gathering, she emphasised the importance of standing on the side of righteousness, stating, "Vijaya Dashami is the epitome of the victory of good over evil. Lord Ram has taught us one thing, which is that we should never walk on the wrong path. On this day of Vijaya Dashami, we should take the oath that we will always walk on the correct path and wage a battle against evil."
AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal Says 'Ram Rajya' Is Inspiration Behind Delhi Governance Model
Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal also extended Dussehra greetings, drawing a parallel between 'Ram Rajya' and the governance model in Delhi. "Taking inspiration from the concept of 'Ram Rajya', we try to run our government in Delhi. Every child in Delhi, whether rich or poor, should get good education. Every person, whether rich or poor, should get good treatment. Earlier, there used to be long power cuts, now 24 hours free electricity is being provided," he stated.
He concluded by wishing, "Today on this occasion, I wish all the Ram devotees present here a very happy Dussehra."
