New Delhi: After cremating her father Wing Commander Prithvi Singh Chauhan’s daughter expressed that she wants to follow in her father’s footsteps and join Indian Air Force (IAF) in the future.
Wing Commander Chauhan, who died in the chopper crash in Coonoor on Wednesday, was cremated by his 12-year-old daughter, 7-year-old son, and cousin Pushpendra Singh. His 12 -year-old daughter Aaradhya, a class VII student, said that she wanted to emulate her father as he was her hero.
“My father used to advise me to focus on my studies and not chase marks. He believed marks would follow if I focused on studies,” she was quoted as saying by PTI.
His mortal remains were cremated on Saturday at the Tajganj Crematorium amid the presence of his family members and officials from IAF, Agra administration, and police.
Chauhan and his family had moved to Agra in 2006 from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He had joined IAF in 2000 and was flying with CDS Rawat for his mission.
Wing Commander Chauhan was among the 11 who lost their lives along with CDS Bipin Rawat and his wife, Madhulika Rawat when the Mi-17V5 crashed in Tamil Nadu’s Coonoor region on Wednesday.
CDS Rawat and his wife’s last rites were completed on Friday. The mortal remains of other deceased have also been sent to their hometown for last rites.
The lone survivor of the crash, Group Captain Varun Singh is admitted in the military hospital in Bengaluru and is in critical condition but stable according to officials.
