Cyclone Gulab HIGHLIGHTS: Coastal states Odisha and Andhra have braced up for cyclone 'Gulab' which is expected to make landfall on Sunday evening. IMD has issued an orange alert for coastal areas.
The landfall process, which started around 6 pm, is still continuing. The entire cloud mass is expected to move from the seaside to the landside in 1-1.5 hours. Rainfall in Odisha is mild to moderate: PK Jena, Special Relief Commissioner, Odisha said.
There were six fishermen, all residents of Andhra Pradesh's Srikakulam, on the boat, out of which 5 fell in the sea due to strong waves. Out of these 5 persons, three reached ashore safely & said two others have died. One fisherman who was on the boat is still missing, ANI reported.

Odisha CM Naveen Pattnaik on Sunday held a meeting over preparation for 'Cyclone Gulab'. The Chief Minister told reporters, "I had a meeting over 'Cyclone Gulab' at Odisha Bhavan, which is expected tonight in around 10 districts of the state; discussed necessary precautions to be taken."
"We are examining the whole matter thoroughly and will come up with a solution very soon...will do whatever is sensible for our people," CM Naveen Pattnaik added.

As a precautionary measure ahead of the landfall of cyclone 'Gulab', several trains have been cancelled and diverted.
