New Delhi: The Covid-19 pandemic has been a serious problem in countries around the world for more than a year and a half now. Meanwhile, the mutant form of Corona, the Delta variant came, which was considered more contagious and deadly in the studies.

Now, new cases of this Delta variant, the mutant, have come to light in India, which is more deadly than delta variants. However, the number of patients infected with it is very low.
The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has released a report that cases of new mutants of Covid-19 infected Delta variants have been detected in Indore, which is more dangerous than Delta variants. Dr B S Saitya, Chief Medical and Health Officer, Indore said that two of them are army officers posted in Mhow cantonment. The samples were taken in September.
Scientists at the INSACOG network are monitoring the variation of SARS-COV-2. He explained that the findings relating to AY.4.2 still have high levels of uncertainty and it would be too early to say that the risk of infection/death is high in this variant. Amid concerns over the new variant, experts have warned that the pandemic is not over yet.
On October 21, the US Centre for Disease Control reported that less than 10 cases of AY.4.2 have been registered in its database so far, while UK health officials said 5,120 cases of VUI-21OCT-01have been detected. Its second name is AY.4.2. The first case of this variant came to light in July.
This sub-variant named AY.4.2 is said to be 10-15% more infectious than the original Delta variant. However, currently experts are saying that its chances of spreading extensively are low. If more cases are reported, this sub-variant can be included in the 'Variant of Interest' list by the World Health Organization (WHO).
