Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that the preparations for the rollout and administering of coronavirus vaccine is in the last stages in the country.  He added that people will be given doses of vaccine manufactured in India. His statement comes a day after government-appointed experts reviewed the emergency-use applications filed by three drugmakers.

In his address after laying the foundation stone for an All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Gujarat’s Rajkot, Modi said the number of new coronavirus cases are decreasing in the country.

At the same time he alerted people, against letting their guard down and strictly abide by coronavirus preventive norms even after vaccination.

"I used to say 'jab tak davai nahi dhilai nahi' but now our mantra for 2021 should be: Davai bhi, kadaai bhi (yes to medicine and yes to caution)," Modi said.

Though the number of new coronavirus cases are decreasing in the country, people should not let their guard down and strictly follow coronavirus safety measures even after vaccination, he said.

"I used to say 'jab tak dawai nahi dhilai nahi' (No let up till vaccination) but now our mantra for 2021 should be: Dawai bhi, kadaai bhi (yes to medicine and yes to caution)," PM Modi said.

India has turned into the nerve-centre of global health, Modi said. "We are working on mission mode to improve medical education in India. After the formation of National Medical Commission, the quality and quantity of health education will improve," he added.
