'Don't Believe Rumours, Consult Doctor': PM Modi To Citizens On Coronavirus Scare

"I request people to not believe in hearsay and rumours on what to do and what not to do on Coronavirus, whatever doubts you have please consult your doctor," Prime Minister Narendra Modi said.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday urged the nation not to fall prey for rumours about the deadly Coronavirus outbreak and asked people to consult to a doctor in case of any doubts. PM Modi said this while interacting with the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadi Pariyojana via video conferencing. "I request people to not believe in hearsay and rumours on what to do and what not to do on Coronavirus, whatever doubts you have please consult your doctor," he said.  "Janaushadhi Day is not just a day to celebrate a scheme, but a day to connect with millions of Indians, millions of families, who have got great relief because of this scheme," prime minister said. PM Modi also reacted to the news of Namaste becoming popular across the world in the wake of Covid-19 spread, PM Modi said that it is the right time to bring back the habit of doing Namaste.

In his opening remarks, PM Modi informed that over 6,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras across the country have helped people save between Rs 2,000-2,500 crore in total adding that every month, over one crore families take medicines from Jan Aushadhi stores. PM also informed that the prices of over 1,000 medicines have been controlled and it has helped people all over the country and close to to Rs 12,500 crore have been saved by the common people. "About 90 lakh poor have been provided free healthcare and treatment under Ayushman Bharat," he said. Further during his address, PM Modi said that every month, over 1 crore families are getting benefits of cheap medicines from these Jan Ausadhi Centres and also informed that the medicines available at these centres are 50-90 per cent less compared to the same medicines available in any market all across the country. "We are trying to put a system in which no one has to go too far for medical facilities. Thus, health and wellness centers are being opened up in the entire country. New AIIMS, new hospitals and other facilities are being opened up," PM said. "In the last 1.5 years, Jammu and Kashmir has seen unprecedented development work at a brisk rate. Over 3.5 lakh people have been added to the Ayushman Bharat scheme and 3 lakh old, women and specially-abled people have been connected to the pension scheme in the valley," he added.
