Coronavirus HIGHLIGHTS: Delhi Records 77 Fresh Covid-19 Cases, 1 Death; Positivity Rate 0.10%
Coronavirus HIGHLIGHTS, Wednesday July 14: With 3.9 lakh new Covid cases being reported across globe each day, Central government has urged to join hands to ensure the third wave does not hit India.
Delhi recorded 77 fresh COVID-19 cases and one death while the positivity rate stood at 0.10 per cent, according to a health bulletin on Wednesday. Seventy-one patients recovered in the last 24 hours, it said.
According to the bulletin, 215 people are in home isolation, a minor increase from the previous day's figure of 214, while the number of containment zones has declined to 472 from 524, a day ago.
BMC to start inoculating pregnant women with Covid-19 vaccines from tomorrow. The step has been taken after a recommendation from the Experts' task force. BMC will start with 35 centers across Mumbai, which will vaccinate pregnant women.

While welfare schemes remained uninterrupted during this period, the government's coffers continued to gain with exemption of industrial activities under strict guidelines to guard against the deadly virus. As a result, there has been an increase of Rs 97,002 crore during the current financial year despite the pandemic, taking the total business of the state to Rs 19.37 lakh crore from Rs 16.91 lakh crore in March, 2020.
According to Brijesh Kumar Singh, coordinator of UP State Level Banking Committee (UPSLBC), the total bank deposits in the state from January to March 2021 went up to Rs 12.7 lakh crore, a rise of Rs 59,345 crore since December 2020. The state government has also exceeded targets in several welfare schemes, including Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme and Chief Minister Youth Self Employment Scheme.
Besides, the government gave away loans to the tune of Rs 27,875 crore to 47.38 lakh units under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, achieving 99 per cent of the target in this regard. An order has been issued to close Sultanpur Sabzi Mandi and Rani Bagh Market for not following the guidelines. Due to the violation of social distancing, Sultanpuri vegetable market market has been ordered to be closed for 3 days i.e. till 16th July. Apart from this, Rani Bagh market in North Delhi will also be closed for the next two days (Wednesday and Thursday).
India’s cumulative Covid vaccination coverage has exceeded 38.50 crore. As many as 34,10,974 vaccine doses have been administered in past 24 hours. While multiple states across country have complained about shortage of vaccines, the Union Health Ministry said the Government of India, as part of the nationwide vaccination drive, has been supporting the states and Union Territories by providing them Covid vaccines free of cost. It further said that the situation is dynamic and everything is happening in coordination with the state governments.
Rajasthan Medical and Health Minister Raghu Sharma has confirmed that 11 patients infected with Kappa variant of Coronavirus have been found in the state. Giving further details, he said that out of the 11 patients four are from Alwar and Jaipur, two from Barmer and one from Bhilwara.
The Minister informed that the IGIB lab in Delhi confirmed the presence of the Kappa variant in nine samples through genome sequencing while other two samples were confirmed by SMS Medical College and Hospital in Jaipur.
Sharma went on to say that the Kappa variant of Coronavirus is moderate and less lethal than the Delta variant. He also appealed to the public to follow Covid appropriate behavior with full discipline.
