Corona Figures Explained: India Crosses 9 Lakh Cases; How The Country Paced To The Grim Milestone?

Coronavirus In India: As the world is racing to find a vaccine to put an end to the deadly pandemic, the situation in India continues to remain grim with the total number of Covid-19 cases breaching the 9 lakh-mark. According to the latest health ministry data, 28,498 new cases have emerged while 553 deaths are reported in the last 24 hours. It takes the tally of positive cases to 9,06,752 including 3,11,565 active cases, 5,71,460 cured/discharged/migrated and 23,727 deaths. However, on the positive side, the recovery rate among Covid-19 patients has increased to 63.02 per cent. The recoveries/deaths ratio is 96.01 per cent : 3.99 per cent now, as per the government data. This is the fifth consecutive day that Covid-19 cases have increased by more than 26,000. Maharashtra has witnessed 6,497 new cases in the past 24 hours, while Delhi has added 1,246 cases to its tally.

How figures reached 9 lakh in India?
- The country has reported its first Covid-19 case in January. After that the figure of 1 lakh was breached on 19 May, 2020 in a span of 111 days followed by a total number of 2 lakh cases on 19 May, 2020 within 15 days.
- Later on 13 June, 2020 it touched the grim 3 lakh figures within a span of 10 days, and then 4 lakh on 21 June, within eight days.
- Slowly, the numbers kept on spiraling to touch 5 lakh on 27 June , 2020 in a span of six day.
- On 2 July the tally touched 6 lakh within a span of five days.
