Corona Cases Update: India has witnessed a decline in Covid cases compared to the last week. The country has reported 26,115 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry.


Active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.92%; the lowest since March 2020.


As the country registered a decline in case, India's active caseload now stands at 3,09,575 which is the lowest in 184 days.


Kerala


Kerala on Monday reported 15,692 fresh COVID-19 cases and 92 deaths, which took the caseload to 45,24,185 and fatalities to 23,683, according to PTI.

The number of people who recovered from the infection since Sunday was 22,223 which brought the total recoveries to 43,32,897 and the number of active cases to 1,67,008, an official press release said.

As many as 89,722 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, the release said.

Among the 14 districts, Thrissur recorded the highest cases with 2,504 followed by Ernakulam (1,720), Thiruvananthapuram (1,468), Kozhikode (1,428), Kottayam (1,396), Kollam (1,221), Malappuram (1,204), Palakkad (1,156) and Alappuzha (1,077).

Of the new cases, 64 were health workers, 66 were from outside the State, and 14,875 were infected through contact with the source of it not clear in 687 cases.


Maharashtra


After more than seven months the state registered the lowest number of Coronavirus cases. Maharashtra on Monday reported 2,583 new coronavirus positive cases, the lowest after February 9 this year, and 28 fatalities while 3,836 patients recovered, a state health department official said.

The tally of COVID-19 infections in Maharashtra now stands at 65,24,498 and the death toll reached 1,38,546. The number of recoveries rose to 63,40,723, leaving the state with 41,672 active cases, the official said.

The daily cases and fatalities witnessed a marginal dip on Monday compared to the previous day when Maharashtra recorded 3,413 infections and 49 deaths.
