Covid Update: India's daily Covid surge continues to hover around 30,000 as the country reported 30,773 new Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. The active cases account for 0.99% of total cases. The recovery rate is currently at 97.68%.


The country has registered 38,945 recoveries in the last 24 hours which has taken the total recoveries tally to 3,26,71,167


Kerala


Kerala saw a dip in fresh COVID-19 cases on Saturday with the state reporting 19,352 infections, and 143 deaths, taking the total affected in the state to 44,88,840 and the toll to 23,439.


The state had reported 23,260 cases on Friday.


The number of recoveries outnumbered fresh cases with 27,266 being cured, taking the total number to 42,83,963. Among the districts, Ernakulam reported the highest number of cases - 2,626, followed by Thrissur with 2,329 and Kozhikode with 2,188, health minister Veena George said. "Out of those who were found infected today, 96 reached the state from outside, while 18,114 contracted the disease from their contacts.


Maharashtra


Maharashtra on Saturday reported 3,391 new coronavirus cases and 80 fatalities, according to a PTI report.

It took the state's infection tally to 65,18,502 and the death toll to 1,38,469, he added.

As many as 3,841 patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the count of recovered cases to 63,28,561. There are 47,919 active cases in the state now.

The state has 2,83,445 people in-home quarantine and another 1,812 in institutional quarantine.

Maharashtra's COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 97.09 per cent, while the fatality rate is 2.12 per cent.

The cumulative number of coronavirus tests conducted in the state climbed to 5,68,74,491 after 1,65,363 samples were tested during the day.

Mumbai reported 478 new cases and six deaths as per the state data, taking the total of cases detected in the city to 7,37,678 and death toll to 16,048.
