Corona Update: For the first time in August, India has reported less than 30,000 cases in a single day. The country has registered the lowest number of cases in 147 days. According to the data released by the Ministry of Health on Tuesday, India reported 28,204 new corona cases in the last 24 hours while 373 lost their life due to the virus.  At the same time, 41,511 people have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours across the country.


Kerala's TPR continues to remain around 13 per cent


The Covid test positivity rate in Kerala continues to hover around 13 per cent, though the number of new Covid cases on Monday was 13,049 after 98,640 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, said a statement from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Monday's figures of new cases were lesser, compared to the previous days, since, generally on Sundays, the number of samples sent for testing is also less, compared to other days.

The statement also said that there were 1,69,512 active cases after 20,004 people turned negative.

There were 105 Covid deaths reported taking the death toll to 17,852.


Malappuram district, which has been recording the highest number of daily cases, continued to be in the lead with 2,052 people turning positive followed by Thrissur with 1,762.


Maharashtra reports over 4000 cases in a single day


Maharashtra on Monday reported 4,505 new coronavirus positive cases and 68 fatalities while 7,568 patients recovered from the virus according to the health bulletin released by the state


With the addition of the new Coronavirus cases, Maharashtra's total cases and fatality count climbed to 63,57,833 and 1,34,064, respectively. The total number of recoveries in the state stands at 61,51,956 and active cases at 68,375.


Notably, Dhule, Nandurbar, Parbhani, Akola, Wardha, and Gondia districts and Dhule, Parbhani and Chandrapur municipal corporations did not report any new coronavirus case during the day, according to an official, as quoted by PTI.


Maharashtra's case recovery rate now stands at 96.76 per cent and the fatality rate is 2.01 per cent.


Mumbai city saw 218 new cases and three deaths while Pune added 139 new infections but did not report any fatality.
