Kerala reports 23,676 new coronavirus cases
Kerala on Tuesday reported 23,676 fresh COVID cases pushing the total infection count to 34.49 lakh, with the number of people succumbing to the virus touching 17,103 after 148 additional deaths.
On Monday, the state had reported 13,984 cases after recording more than 20,000 cases for six consecutive days. As many as 15,626 people have been cured of the infection since Monday, taking the total recoveries to 32,58,310 and the number of active cases in the state to 1,73,221, a state government release said.
Maharashtra sees 6,005 new COVID-19 cases, 177 deaths, 6,799 recoveries
Maharashtra on Tuesday reported 6,005 fresh coronavirus positive cases and 177 fatalities, taking the tally of infections to 63,21,068 and the toll to 1,33,215 while 6,799 patients recovered, the state health department said.
With the new additions, the tally of recoveries in Maharashtra now stands at 61,10,124, leaving the state with 74,318 active cases with a recovery rate of 96.66 per cent. The case fatality rate is 2.1 per cent, it said.
Mumbai reported 291 new cases and three deaths, which raised the overall case-load to 7,35,657 and the count of fatalities to 15,911, the department said in a statement.
UP administers 22 lakh vaccine doses in single day
Uttar Pradesh created a record on Tuesday by administering over 22 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses in a single day, as per the 7 pm provisional report on Tuesday. UP also reached another milestone by becoming the first state in the country to cross a total of five crore vaccinations.
Expressing happiness over his government’s vaccination coverage, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and people’s support record number of COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered on August 3.
