New Delhi: The Congress party is holding an online protest for demanding financial aid for workers and labourers of the unorganized sector. The agitation which is named #speakupindia campaign will be held from 11 AM to 2 PM. The party wants the centre to provide financial aid to workers similar to the ‘Nyay’ scheme proposed by the party. This scheme has been iterated by the Rahul Gandhi several times and has also been launched for farmers in Chhattisgarh this month.


Over 50 lakh Congress workers will participate in the agitation will be held on different platforms YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

The campaign will raise its voice against the injustices faced by the poor during the lockdown and the demands include doubling of MNREGA payment, Rs 10000 for poor families and continued economic support in the form of rs 6000 per month to ensure that they are able to sustain and relief and assistance in form of grants instead of a loan for small business and MSMEs.

The party had also announced the campaign in their social media account and had written ‘When the Govt has turned a blind eye to the problems of the poor, it becomes our duty to highlight their concerns. Since the lockdown began Congress has been demanding for direct cash transfer for the poor and Rahul Gandhi had advocated the implementation of the 'Nyay' scheme and said that a certain amount of money will be paid to the poor every month to enable them to make purchases. According to Gandhi, the increased purchasing power of the poor will help to remonetise the economy.
