4-5 Parties That Attended NDA Meeting Might Cross Over To INDIA Bloc Soon, Congress Claims
Congress spokesperson Alok Sharma also stated that several critical decisions would be made in the next INDIA group meeting, which will be held in Mumbai on September 1.
Four to five of the 38 parties that attended the meeting of the BJP-led NDA are in contact with the INDIA alliance and would join the opposition group in the coming days, according to Congress spokesperson Alok Sharma, news agency PTI reported. He also stated that several critical decisions would be made in the next INDIA group meeting, which will be held in Mumbai on September 1.
"At least 4 to 5 political parties which were among the 38 parties that attended the NDA meeting addressed by PM Modi are in touch with the INDIA alliance. Some of them are expected to join the opposition bloc very soon while some before (2024) elections," Sharma informed reporters.

Last month, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) met in Delhi, with at least 38 parties in attendance.
Sharma evaded a straight response to a question on whether the Congress will head Maharashtra's tripartite Maha Vikas Aghadi.
"Considering the current situation in the country, it is not important who will lead but what is important is how we all together, as a cementing force, can remove this arrogant government," he was quoted by PTI in its report.
Anyone can lead in different states and areas, but the Congress will act as a unifying force in all states to bring the country together. "The year 2024 belongs to INDIA," said the national spokesperson.
"I want to ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he will order an inquiry by the CBI and the ED into recent CAG reports and the corruption that has come to the fore in NHAI (National Highway Authority of India), and health and insurance sectors," he said.
When asked if Rahul Gandhi will run from Amethi again in the 2024 elections, Sharma said the Gandhi family has always fought the seat, and locals have family-like relationships with them.
"People of Amethi always want someone from the Gandhi family to contest from there. Who will contest from Amethi, that decision will be taken by Rahul Gandhi and his family. There is no official decision on this aspect," he said.
Smriti Irani of the BJP beat Rahul Gandhi from the Amethi seat in the 2019 elections.
"It is certain that Irani would lose even if a block-level president of Congress contests from Amethi," Sharma added.
