Civilian Injured In Militant Attack In Kashmir's Kulgam, BDS Squad Checks Vehicle For Explosives
A basic health worker at Yaripora Sub District Hospital in Kashmir's Kulgam district when militants attacked a police party.
Kulgam: A civilian, working as a basic health worker at Yaripora Sub District Hospital, was injured after militants attacked a police party in Yaripora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
A senior police officer said that the militants attacked the police party this afternoon when the vehicle they were travelling in was signalled stop. Instead, the militants fired upon the police party during which a civilian, identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad, was injured who has been referred to Anantnag hospital.
Block Medical Officer Kulgam Dr Nighat confirmed that Ahmad who is working as a basic health worker at Yaripora Sub District Hospital was critically injured. She said that Ahmad, a resident of Wanpoh, has been shifted to GMC Anantnag. “His condition remains critical,” she added.
Meanwhile, police and army have cordoned off the area and started searches in the area to nab the attackers. A bomb squad has been called in to check the vehicle, a black colour Santro Vehicle for possible explosives.
Police are taking no chances, after May 29 failed car bomb blast in Pulwama in which a white coloured Santro car was used to carry a 45 Kg IED.
