New Delhi: Day after Delhi Police sent a notice to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi seeking information on the women who shared details about incidents of sexual harassment with him, the party has now reacted strongly to the notice. Congress said that the Centre is afraid of Rahul Gandhi since he has asked questions about the relationship 'PM Modi and Adani'.
In a tweet on Friday, Congress said, " Furious over Rahul Rahul Gandhi's questions on PM Modi's relationship with Adani, the government is now hiding behind the police."
"45 days after Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi has been served notice by Delhi Police, in which details of women have been sought who met him and spoke about the incidents of harassment with them," the party further said.
Earlier, in response to Rahul Gandhi's statement that "women are still being sexually assaulted" during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the Delhi Police sent him a notice and asked for information on the victims so that appropriate action may be done, according to authorities on Thursday, news agency ANI reported.
The police have forwarded a list of questions after becoming aware of the social media posts.
During the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandi had issued a statement in Srinagar, saying: "In one particular case I asked a girl, she had been raped, I asked her should we call the police, she said that don't call the police then I will be shamed."
The Congress leader has been urged by the police to furnish information on these victims so that they can be given security.
