Celebratory Gunfire By Groom Kills His Army Jawan Friend In UP's Sonbhadra, Video Surfaces

According to police sources, Babulal Yadav (35), a Havaldar deployed in Jammu & Kashmir, had returned to his native town Mahuari Tendu on leave a few days ago.

New Delhi: An army jawan was killed in celebratory gunfire at a wedding event in the Robertsganj region of the Sonbhadra district in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, according to police officials, news agency UNI reported.

According to police sources, Babulal Yadav (35), a Havaldar deployed in Jammu & Kashmir, had returned to his native town Mahuari Tendu on leave a few days ago.

"In UP's Sonbhadra, groom Manish Madheshia killed his friend and Army Jawan Babu Lal Yadav after the pistol used for celebratory fire during wedding procession accidentally fired. The pistol belonged to the deceased Army jawan," a Benaras based journalist tweeted. 

“On Tuesday night sustained bullet injury during the marriage function in Brahma Nagar. He was taken to the district hospital where doctors declared him dead after examination,” they said.

According to police sources, the licenced handgun was seized near the stage.

According to police sources, once the doctors declared Babulal dead, the people who transported him to the hospital fled the scene. “The police detained the groom and a few other persons and they are being quizzed,” they said.
