A man has allegedly tried to commit suicide on Thursday by jumping off the sixth floor of Mantralaya, the headquarters of the Maharasthra government in south Mumbai. The police said that the man survived due to the safety net installed in the building.
The video of the incident has also surfaced on social media.
The 43-year-old man, identified as Bapu Mokashi, jumped off the sixth floor of the building around 3 pm, but luckily landed on the net which has been installed just above the ground surface. The basic purpose of the safety net is to foil such kind of suicide attempts after similar incidents happened in the past. Bapu Mokashi was later rescued by the police and taken to hospital.
Police officials, according to PTI, informed that the man has not received any serious injury and the Marine Drive police are investigating the case.
This is not the first such case where spmeone has tried to commit suicide in the government office premises. Unlike Bapu Mokashi, many others have lost their lives due to this.

On Monday earlier this week, a RAW officer allegedly jumped from the 10th floor of the south Delhi office of the intelligence agency.
"He died on the spot and initial investigation suggests that he was suffering from depression," news agency IANS quoted a police official, as saying.
Recently in September, a man died after jumping off the 28th floor of the Civic Centre complex in Central Delhi. The man used to work there as a data entry operator on the eight floor that houses the Income Tax Department.
In a similar incident, a 19-year-old woman worker of Vedic College, tried to commit suicide by jumping off the fifth floor of her hostel building in Sason, Odisha. She broke her legs, but her life was saved.
