New Delhi: A traffic inspector in South Delhi’s CR Park was allegedly assaulted by six people, including two women, for issuing challans on Wednesday. A video of the incident has gone viral on socila media. All the six people have been detained, reported news agency PTI. 


Police said that three people, including two women, were triple riding on a two-wheeler without helmets when they were stopped by a head constable. The trio was also coming from the wrong side, police said. 


The trio started an argument with the head constable while he issued a challan, a senior police officer said, and added that an inspector, who was near the spot, intervened following which the trio assaulted him


The accused then called three others to the spot and obstructed the traffic, police said.


The whole incident was caught on camera which was also teh footage of which was also verified by the Delhi Police. 






In the viral video of the incident, three people are seen thrashing the inspector while two traffic police personnel are trying to rescue him.


In another video, one of the women alleged that the inspector first slapped her. However, police have refuted the allegations and said the matter escalated over issuing a fine.


The inspector was rushed to a hospital after he suffered injuries on his head, police said.


The Delhi Police, in a tweet,also informed that the injured inspector’s statement has been taken and legal action is initiated.
