Truth Should Come Out: Adv Dehadrai As Mahua Set To Appear Before Ethics Panel In 'Cash For Query' Case

Supreme Court advocate Jai Anand Dehadrai said that the truth in the cash-for-query case must come out. His comment came ahead of Mahua's appearance before the Lok Sabha ethics panel.

Cash-For-Query Case: Ahead of TMC MP Mahua Moitra's appearance before the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee on Thursday, Supreme Court advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai said that truth must come out in the 'cash for query' case. He called the issue "extremely serious" and said it wouldn't be appropriate for him to make any comment. Dehadrai said his only demand was that the truth should be out.

Mahua is all set to appear before the ethics panel which summoned her after hearing the submissions of complainants BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and Jai Anant Dehadrai. She was first called on October 31 but the date was changed after she explained her unavailability due to "pre-scheduled constituency programmes". However, Mahua has sought time after Nov 5 but the panel called her on Nov 2.

"This is an extremely serious matter. The matter is before the Ethics Committee. It will not be appropriate for me to say anything about it, so I would not like to say anything about it right now...My request is that the truth should come out. I do not want anything beyond that," advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai said ahead of Mahua's appearance. 

"It is the right of the committee to decide what should or should not be done. Neither I nor anyone else can decide the function of the committee..." he said. Dehadrai, however, denied commenting over the issue relating to his dog who, he earlier alleged, was taken to pressurise him to take back his complaint against Moitra.

"I can't comment about anybody else. It is a free country, anybody can say what they like. There are consequences to things that people say and at the appropriate time, I will certainly come out and explain as to what has happened. I will come out with the truth. I am not afraid of anybody, I don't get bullied by anybody. If somebody is trying to alter the narrative by trying to play the victim, the whole country is watching. I think the public is very intelligent, they know what is happening," he further told news agency ANI.
