This is not the first instance where an IIT student died by suicide. Just two weeks back a similar incident happened at IIT Kharagpur where a fourth-year student was found dead. The body was found hanging in his hostel room. The institute indicated suicide following which the bereaved father of the deceased said, "Why is there so much stress among students at IIT? He was stressed due to a project."
In another instance earlier, a 21-year-old engineering student studying at the IIT Delhi died by suicide in September.
