Border Security Force on Monday recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Handwara town, said the officials. The IED was recovered from Bhatpura village near a culvert along the Handwara-Naogaon state highway, as per a report by the news agency ANI. More details are awaited. 


On June 5, two personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were injured after an IED planted by Naxalites blew off in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district. The incident took place at 10.30 am near Tekameta hill under Gangaloor police station limits when a team of the CRPF's 85th battalion was out on an area domination operation from Pusnar camp, located around 400 km from state capital Raipur, an official said as per a PTI report. 


Last month, the Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid during a joint operation with Jammu and Kashmir Police and apprehended four terrorists on the Line of Control in the Poonch sector in Jammu and Kashmir. Three of the apprehended terrorists had some weapons, war-like stores including one IED and narcotics, said the Government of India in a statement.

On May 19, a 10-year-old boy was killed after an IED planted by CPI (Maoists) in Jharkhand's West Singbhum district exploded. The boy, a resident of Banglasai tola of Rengrahatu, had gone to the Rolabrupi Jengagada forest to pluck kendu leaves when the IED planted by Maoists to target security personnel on an anti-Maoist operation exploded on Thursday evening killing him


On May 7, Jammu and Kashmir Police averted a major tragedy when it recovered an IED weighing approximately 5 to 6 kilograms along with a terror associate. Police identified the terror associate as Ishfaq Ahmed Wani who is a resident of Pulwama's Arigam. A case has been lodged and an investigation has been ordered into the matter, as per another PTI report.
