PM Modi To Visit Indonesia On September 6-7 To Participate In ASEAN-India, East Asia Summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jakarta, Indonesia for a two-day visit between September 6 and 7 to attend the 20th ASEAN-India Summit and 18th East Asia Summit being hosted by Indonesia as the current Chair of ASEAN.
Modi is visiting Indonesia at the invitation of President Joko Widodo.
During his visit, Modi's primary focus will be to bolster India's trade and security ties with the 10-nation Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). This engagement will be pivotal, especially considering the elevation of India-ASEAN relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership last year.
"The forthcoming ASEAN-India Summit will be the first Summit since the elevation of India-ASEAN relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2022," noted the MEA.
Rahul Gandhi To Leave For Brussels Today, To Attend Several Meetings In Paris, Oslo Till Sept 10
Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi will kick start his trip to three European nations on September 6 and will participate in several programmes including his visit to the European Union Parliament and interaction with the Indian diaspora among many others.
This is Rahul Gandhi's first trip outside India after his membership was reinstated by the Lok Sabha following the stay of conviction in a 2019 Modi surname remarks defamation case by the Supreme Court on August 4.
Earlier this year, he had visited the US for over six days trip to the US, where he addressed the Indian diaspora, attended a lecture programme at Stanford University and others in the cities of San Francisco, Washington, and New York. In March this year, he had also visited the UK and attended several programmes.
SC To Hear Pleas Challenging Bihar Caste Survey Today
The Supreme Court is slated to hear on Wednesday the clutch of special leave petitions filed against the Patna High Court’s order dismissing pleas challenging the caste-based survey in Bihar. As per the cause list published on the website of the apex court, a bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and SVN Bhatti will continue to hear the matter on September 6.
In the previous hearing, the Supreme Court had allowed the Union government a period of one week to file its reply after Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Centre, said that he wanted to put the constitutional and legal position on record.

Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde Addresses Jalna Protest, Announces Measures For 'Kunbi' Certificates
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, addressing the recent Jalna protest and the controversial lathi-charge incident, made significant announcements following a cabinet meeting. In a bid to address historical concerns, Shinde revealed, "In today's cabinet meeting, it has been decided that the people who possess documents dating back to the Nizam era will be granted 'Kunbi' certificates." Additionally, the Chief Minister disclosed the formation of a committee led by retired Justice Sandeep Shinde, tasked with investigating the matter further and presenting its findings within a month. Concerning the lathi-charge incident, Shinde stated, "The government has relieved the Superintendent of Police (SP) and Additional SP from their positions. Action will be taken against those found guilty." Shinde also reaffirmed the government's commitment to pursuing reservations for the Maratha community.
