Breaking News Live: AQI In Delhi Continues To Be 'Severe'

No respite from air pollution in the national capital.

Background

Breaking News Live: Hello and Welcome to the Daily Live Blog of ABP Live. We bring you the latest updates as the day progresses right here.

A lot of focus has been on the deteriorating air quality in and around the national capital after Diwali. AQI had dropped to nearly 900 on Friday. The number has got slightly better, but with no real respite. The Delhiites are complaining of teary eyes and itching due to the increased pollution.

The ruling AAP of Delhi has blamed the increased pollution on crackers, while the BJP has alleged that the Arvind Kejriwal-led government has failed to curb air pollution.

Politics is heated at that end as Amit Malviya, BJP's IT cell chief tweeted, “Delhi’s AQI was in hazardous zone even before the crackers came out. Anyone suggesting otherwise is trying to make Arvind Kejriwal look good, who had unleashed a diabolical campaign to dissuade Delhiites from bursting crackers. Poor air quality is a result of anything BUT Diwali."

Meanwhile, in a major development in the drugs-on-cruise case, a Delhi operations team of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) will now take over the investigation of the matter which was earlier headed by NCB's Zonal chief, Sameer Wankhade.

In other news, the Prime Minister was in Kedarnath yesterday. A lot is being spoken about n the political circles about the visit. We shall keep track of all the political developments from around the country. Stay tuned with us for more updates and news!
