Ministry of Home Affairs today extended the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami, Jammu Kashmir for the next five years with immediate effect declaring it as an ‘unlawful association’. The organisation is found continuing its activities against the security, integrity and sovereignty of the nation.
The outfit was first declared an 'Unlawful Association' on February 28, 2019.
A meeting of the MVA was held in Mumbai to determine the sharing formula for Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra.
Representatives from the Shiv Sena (UBT), including Sanjay Raut, Vinayak Raut, and Anil Desai, attended, while those from the NCP (Sharad Pawar) such as Anil Deshmukh, convened at the Trident Hotel.
There is hope that a sharing formula will be decided upon for the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra today.

A man allegedly killed his wife and later attempted suicide in the wee hours of Monday after an argument over money matters at a village in Nagpur district, a police official said.
The incident took place at Beed Ganesphur village, around 30km from Nagpur city, he said.
The official said the man, Ranjit Natthu Chaudhary (48), allegedly strangled his 45-year-old wife to death in her sleep at around 2 am, a few hours after a heated argument over money matters between the couple.

PM Narendra Modi To Visit Kerala On Tuesday
With the Lok Sabha polls on the horizon and the BJP hoping to make inroads in Kerala politics, Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be coming to the southern state on February 27 -- his third visit to the state this year.
Modi, who would be arriving in the Kerala state capital on Tuesday for an official programme, will participate in the conclusion ceremony of the 'padayatra' organised by the BJP's state unit, party sources said.
The conclusion ceremony of the state-wide 'padayatra' will be held at the Central stadium here, BJP sources said.
The 'padayatra', under the leadership of the party's state president K Surendran, commenced on January 27 from the northern Kerala district of Kasaragod.
Biennial Rajya Sabha Polls For 56 Seats On Tuesday
The biennial elections for 56 Rajya Sabha seats including six in Maharashtra, will be held on February 27.
The states going to the RS polls are: Uttar Pradesh (10 seats), Maharashtra and Bihar (six each), Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal (five each), Gujarat and Karnataka (four each), Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha and Rajasthan (three each), Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand (one seat each).
The elections are being held to fill up the seats after the term of the 56 incumbents ends in early April.
AAP's Political Affairs Committee Meeting On Tuesday To Discuss LS Poll Candidates
The Aam Aadmi Party has called a meeting of its Political Affairs Committee on Tuesday to discuss probable candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The party has finalised its seat-sharing arrangement with its INDIA bloc ally Congress for Delhi, Gujarat, Goa, and Haryana.
The Congress and AAP have decided to not forge any alliance in Punjab. "The party's Political Affairs Committee (PAC) will meet tomorrow to discuss names of candidates for Lok Sabha polls," said a party source. The AAP has already announced three candidates for Assam and two candidates for Gujarat's Bharuch and Bhavnagar constituencies.
