CBI Court Grants 7 Yrs Jail Term To 8 Convicts Of Vyapam Scam

A special CBI court on Tuesday sentences eight convicts to 7 years in jail in connection with the 2012 Madhya Pradesh Police recruitment test.


Eight convicts - Rajesh Dhakad, Kavindra, Vishal, Kamlesh, Jyotish, Naveen - include 3 candidates, 3 solvers and 2 middlemen. Reportedly, over 100 persons in connection with the Vyapam scam cases have been convicted so far.

India's GDP Grows At Over 20% In April-June Quarter, Biggest Quarterly Jump

 India's economy grew by 20.1 per cent in the first quarter of 2021-22, helped by a low base of the year-ago period, official data showed on Tuesday. The gross domestic product (GDP) had contracted by 24.4 per cent in the corresponding April-June quarter of 2020-21, according to data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO).


Meanwhile, China has recorded a growth of 7.9 per cent in the April-June period of 2021.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday confirmed that 33 children and seven adults had died in Firozabad, owing to a mysterious dengue-like fever in the district. Another 26,476 people in Britain have tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 6,757,650, according to official figures released on Monday. The country also reported another 48 coronavirus-related deaths. The total number of coronavirus-related deaths in Britain now stands at 132,485.

Breaking News HIGHLIGHTS, August 30, 2021: In a highly shocking development, at least 33 children and seven adults died in Firozabad, owing to a mysterious dengue-like fever in the district. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the families of those who lost their members and assured them of help. He also visited the 100-bed district hospital at Firozabad where children showing symptoms of the disease are being treated.


"The dedicated Covid-19 ward at the district hospital of Firozabad is reserved for patients suffering from this fever," the Chief Minister said. 


Some of the districts in western Uttar Pradesh, including Mathura, Firozabad and Mainpuri, have witnessed a spike in cases of 'viral fever' which has made the government press the panic button. Health teams have tested the patients but they have all tested negative for Corona. 


Meanwhile, another 26,476 people in Britain have tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 6,757,650, according to official figures released on Monday. In India, over Over 1.53 lakh anti-Covid vaccines were administered in the national capital on Monday, according to the CoWin portal. According to the vaccine bulletin issued by the Delhi government, 10,828 people were vaccinated against the infection on Sunday. The number of doses was low since a majority of government vaccination centres are shut on Sundays.


The first dose was given to 3,413 people, while 7,415 received the second dose, the bulletin said. The city has so far given 1,33,82,514 vaccine doses, including 95,59,634 first doses and 38,22,880 second doses of the Covid vaccines, according to the portal.
