Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw To Visit Odisha Train Disaster Site Today


Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is scheduled to visit Baganaga Bazar station in Odisha’s Balasore district, where as many as 292 people were killed in an accident involving three trains on June 20, official sources said on Monday. 


Vaishnaw who arrived here on Monday on a three-day tour of the state will interact with local people. He will also visit the Balasore District Hospital, where many of the injured had been admitted, and meet the officials. The minister will also inspect and review the development work being undertaken at Balasore railway station.


Amit Shah To Visit Gujarat Today, Attend Several Public Events 


Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be on a day-long visit to Gujarat on Tuesday and attend several public events that include the worship at lord Jagannath Temple, the inauguration of two parks, a railway flyover, and 'bhoomipujan' of a hospital.


On Tuesday, the Home Minister will start his day early by attending 'Mangla Aarti' (part of worship) at Jagannath Temple in the Jamalpur area of Gujarat's Ahmedabad at around 3.45 am.


In Ahmedabad's New Ranip, the Home Minister will be inaugurating a newly constructed park by Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) around 9.15 am. A few minutes after, the Home Minister will also inaugurate the newly constructed Jagatpur railway flyover by AMC and Railways in Ahmedabad's Chandlodia area.


SC To Hear Plea Challenging Calcutta HC's Order On Central Forces Deployment In Panchayat Elections


The Supreme Court will hear a plea challenging the Calcutta High Court's order regarding the deployment of central forces in panchayat elections on June 20. A vacation bench of justices Surya Kant and MM Sundresh agreed to hear the matter on Tuesday.


Earlier, West Bengal State Election Commission and the West Bengal Government moved to the Supreme Court challenging the Calcutta High Court's order regarding the deployment of central forces in panchayat elections.


Senior Advocate Meenakshi Arora mentioned before the apex Court seeking an urgent listing of the petition challenging the Calcutta High Court's order.
