It is time for political parties to announce their list of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections. SP, BJP, BSP, and the Congress; all major parties have announced at least their first list for the Uttar Pradesh election.
BJP also announced its list of candidates. CM Yogi Adityanath will contest from Gorakhpur city, announced the BJP. Deputy CM, Keshav Prasad Maurya will be contesting the election from Sirathu in Prayagraj.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the BJP Central Election Committee meeting was underway. In this meeting names of candidates for the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections were finalised.
Congress on Saturday released the list for candidates on 86 seats for Punjab Election 2022. Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi will contest from the Chamkaur Sahib assembly constituency, while state Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu has been fielded from Amritsar East.
The grand also party has also given a ticket to Bollywood actor Sonu Sood’s sister Malvika Sood, who will be in the fray from the Moga assembly constituency.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli on Saturday took to Twitter to officially announce his decision to step down as Indian cricket team's Test captain after the series defeat against South Africa. The star batter had taken over the job in the year 2014 as two-time World Cup-winning skipper MS Dhoni's replacement.

UP: All Schools, Colleges To Remain Closed Till Jan 23
As per PTI, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that in view of changing circumstances and rising COVID-19 cases, all schools and colleges have been ordered to remain closed till January 23.
ECI allows mediapersons to vote using the postal ballot facility.
According to a release by Office of Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, Election Commission of India (ECI) on Sunday allowed the mediapersons authorised by the election body to cast using the postal ballot facility.

Breaking News LIVE: CBI Arrests GAIL's Director ES Ranganathan In Bribery Case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested GAIL's Director, Marketing, ES Ranganathan in a bribery case, officials told news agency PTI. The CBI had raided Ranganathan's residence and recovered Rs 1.3 crores. Including Ranganathan five arrests have been made in the bribery cases.
